Light olefins, as important bulk raw materials in the petrochemical industry, play an irreplaceable role development of manufacturing industry and economy. The epoxides light olefins are intermediates for synthesis polymers, drugs, fine chemicals, their green, efficient, safe has attracted much attention. This review focuses on research progress olefin epoxidation elucidates traditional methods, such chlorohydrin method. Although these processes have mature processes, they drawbacks, including equipment corrosion, environmental pollution, poor safety, high waste emissions. Special emphasis is placed catalytic systems using oxygen or organic peroxides sources. For homogeneous systems, certain metal complexes exhibit activity selectivity yet difficult to separate recycle. Moreover, heterogeneous become a hotspot due advantages easy separation reusability, with supported catalysts being prime example. Meanwhile, effects reaction temperature, pressure, solvent, etc., explored. specific mechanisms also studied analyzed. Current challenges, enhancing catalyst stability reducing costs, summarized. In future, developing highly economically viable technologies large-scale industrial applications represents direction this field.
