Brazilian
Food
Insecurity
Scale
(EBIA)
documented
major
reductions
in
moderate/severe
food
insecurity
(FI)
between
2004
and
2014
likely
because
of
economic
growth
the
context
equitable
social
policies.
Coinciding
with
a
change
political
administrations,
about
2015,
FI
rates
started
to
rapidly
rebound,
crisis
becoming
substantially
worst
during
COVID-19
pandemic
policies
were
weakened
or
eliminated
recession
preceding
it.
Evidence
suggests
that
EBIA
has
helped
inform
security
governance
Brazil
by
documenting
changes
coinciding
shifts
Research
is
needed
understand
what
extent
these
policy
may
explain
fluctuations
over
time.
