Double layer bacterial nanocellulose - poly(hydroxyoctanoate) film activated by prodigiosin as sustainable, transparent, UV-blocking material

Double-layer
active
UV-blocking
material
composed
of
nanocellulose
as
an
inner
layer
poly(hydroxyoctanoic
acid)
containing
prodigiosin
compound
was
produced
by
layer-by-layer
deposition.
This
study
referred
the
new
consisted
three
components
in
manner,
activity:
bio-pigment
prodigiosin,
poly(hydroytoctanoate)
-
biopolymer
microbial
fermentations.

concentrations

bioactivity

production.
Water
contact
angle
measurements
confirmed
that
hydrophilic
hydrophobic
improved
comparison
native
BNC.
Migration
test
indicated
release
all
media
consequence
bilayer
formulation,
while
from
10
%
ethanol
not
detected.
All
findings
suggested
this
activated,
candidate
excellent
potential
packaging
industry.
