We investigate how entrepreneurs communicate with crowdfunding backers during the onset of a societal crisis via content analysis campaigns active COVID-19 pandemic and vignette experiment. While effective communication stakeholders is critical for acquiring resources crises, little known about what strategies use these crises or their influence on fundraising. Notably, we find that entrepreneurs’ differ along three key dimensions: timing (proactive vs. reactive), target (entrepreneur other), nature (utilitarian personal), proactively addressing other stakeholders’ personal concerns attracts more funding than alternative approaches.

Research on the influence of internal and external stakeholders diversity outcomes within organizations has grown in past decade. Across multiple macro micro theoretical domains, this body research examined various at different organizational levels. Through an integrative review literature from management, sociology, psychology, entrepreneurship, we highlight channels pathways underlying mechanisms through which four major stakeholder groups—organizational actors, resource exchange partners, institutional societal forces—impact organizations. We discuss future directions, empirical conceptual, present a promising path for studies to unpack complex relationships between regarding issues, particularly intersection aspects.
