Tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is a heart condition where blood flows backward through the tricuspid valve. valve disease constitutes major valvular that receiving heightened attention due to tailored treatment options and sex-specific differences in outcomes. The study aims investigate whether biological sex has significant influence on development, progression, outcomes of adults. We conducted comprehensive search identify studies examining impact pathophysiology TR as well patients with TR. searched PUBMED/MEDLINE, SCOPUS, Excerpta Medica dataBASE (EMBASE) from inception September 2023 relevant studies. Twelve totaling 22,574 met our eligibility criteria. These were categorized into three subgroups: without intervention (3,848 patients, 48.1% males 51.9% females), those who underwent open surgery (17,498 patients: 46.2% 53.8% transcatheter repair/replacement (TTVR; 1,687 41.6% 58.4% females). Analysis revealed no terms etiology. Males tended have slightly lower mean age difference (mean (MD): -0.60 years; 95% confidence interval (CI) (-1.49, -0.04); p = 0.10) but had more frequent chronic lung (risk ratio (RR): 1.12, CI (1.01, 1.25), 0.03). showed higher baseline volume (MD: 4.11, (0.53, 7.68), 0.02) left ventricular ejection fraction -5.85, (-6.97, -4.73), < 0.00001). Following for treatment, required permanent pacemaker implantation (PPM; RR: 1.57, (1.21, 2.03), 0.0006). Similarly, TTVR need PPM (RR: 1.45, (1.10, 1.93), 0.010). In-hospital mortality exhibited differences, elevated late risk. Sex notable characteristics, having risk certain conditions. requirement was sex-based prognosis.

Abstract Background Women have a higher prevalence of tricuspid regurgitation (TR) and present at more advanced stages as compared with men. Given the high operative mortality associated valve (TV) surgery, transcatheter interventions (TTVI) emerged promising treatment option. We explored sex‐based differences among patients significant TR who would be expected to eligible for TTVI. Methods Between March 2021–2022, 12,677 unique adult underwent transthoracic echocardiogram our tertiary care institution. Clinical echocardiographic data were collected than moderate TR. The 2021 European Society Cardiology guidelines used retrospectively define sub‐populations been TTVI, TV or medical therapy. Patients grouped by sex using t‐tests, Wilcoxon rank‐sum, Pearson chi‐square, Cox regression survival analysis. Results Of 569 patients, 52% (296/569) female. Men had left ventricular dysfunction ( p < 0.001), mitral = 0.023), signs heart failure (New York Heart Association stage III 0.031)). isolated 0.020) due severe pulmonary hypertension 0.001). Most (74.6% women, 76.9% men) precluded from both surgical intervention disease. 10.8% women 9.2% men qualified TTVI 0.511). This paper delves into the significance of imaging in diagnosis, aetiology and therapeutic guidance heart failure, aiming to facilitate early referral improve patient outcomes. Imaging plays a crucial role not only assessing left ventricular ejection fraction, but also characterising underlying cardiac abnormalities reaching specific diagnosis. By providing valuable data on structure, function haemodynamics, helps diagnose condition, evaluate haemodynamic status and, consequently, identify pathophysiological phenotype, as well stratifying risk for In this article, we provide comprehensive exploration these aspects.

Tricuspid valve regurgitation (TR) is more prevalent among females. Transcatheter tricuspid repair (TTVR) using the edge-to-edge technique represents an alternative to surgery in patients with severe TR and high surgical risk. This study aims investigate sex differences undergoing TTVR.

ABSTRACT Tricuspid regurgitation (TR) poses a significant healthcare burden and is major concern for patients who experience debilitating symptoms face poorer prognosis. Cardiologists are showing renewed interest in TR, as the previous belief that it was merely bystander of left‐sided heart disease has evolved. As result, more transcatheter techniques addressing TR emerging. Although clear impact on mortality from these tricuspid valve interventions (TTVI) not yet been demonstrated, improvement quality life substantial, leading to increased use procedures clinical practice. In this review, we focus multimodality imaging an essential tool quantifying severity, assessing right ventricular (RV) function, understanding underlying mechanisms, selecting appropriate intervention, ensuring thorough accurate preprocedural planning minimize complications.
