The photocatalytic technique has drawn far-ranging interests in addressing the current issues; however, its property suffers from limited visible light response and rapid recombination of carriers. To address these issues, two specific approaches have been proposed to enhance activity: (1) ultrasound-assisted synthesis utilized prepare photocatalysts, resulting refined grain size, increased surface area, reduced photogenerated carrier recombination; (2) sonophotocatalysis piezoelectric enhanced photocatalysis developed accelerate reaction, which utilizes synergism between ultrasound light. On one side, generates cavitation bubbles induce more reactive radicals for redox reactions. other induces deformation material structure, changes internal potential improves performance. Currently, intensive efforts devoted related research great progress reached with applications pollutant degradation, new energy production, fields. This work starts by elucidating fundamental concept photocatalyst photocatalysis. Then, synergistic behavior ultrasonic ultrasonic-assisted thoroughly discussed, including water splitting, bacterial sterilization. Finally, challenge outlook are investigated proposed.
