Bacterial infections and antibiotic abuse are a global threat to human health. In recent years, there has been boom in research on antimicrobial agents with low toxicity efficient nanomaterials. Boric acid-functionalized carbon dots (B-CDs) negative surface charge were synthesized by the hydrothermal method. Covalent bonds formed between boric acid groups cis-diol of polysaccharide bacterial cell wall, numerous B-CDs trapped surface. experiments antibacterial activity, presented strong bactericidal activity against Escherichia coli (E. coli) minimum concentration 12.5 μg/mL. The mechanism suggested that entered interior diffusion posed significant damage double helix structure E. DNA. Furthermore, exhibited toxicity. results demonstrated novel not only fought infection misuse but also provided new ideas for safe effective

Abstract Atoms doping is a practical approach to modulate the physicochemical properties of carbon dots (CDs) and thus has garnered increasing attention in recent years. Compared non‐metal atoms, transition metal atoms (TMAs) possess more unoccupied orbitals larger atomic radii. TMAs can significantly alter electronic structure CDs bestow them with new intrinsic characteristics. TMAs‐doped have exhibited widespread application potential as class single‐atom‐based nanomaterials. However, challenges remain for successful preparation precise design CDs. The key successfully preparing TMA‐doped lies anchoring precursors before reaction. Herein, taking formation mechanism starting point, we systematically summarized ligands employed synthesizing proposed synthetic strategy involving multiple ligands. Additionally, summarize functional imparted by different TMA dopants guide Finally, describe bottlenecks face provide an outlook on their future development.
