Abstract Defect engineering is an emerging technology for tailoring nanomaterials' characteristics and catalytic performance in various applications. Recently, defect‐engineered nanoparticles have emerged as highly researched materials applications because of their exceptional redox reaction capabilities physicochemical optical properties.
