The integration of living microbes, specifically bacteria and fungi, with metal-organic nanocoatings has led to the recent development cyborg microbe biohybrids, which show excellent adaptability functionality for a wide range potential applications in biotechnology medicine. This review discusses strategies, functionalisation, these are categorised into two types coatings: frameworks (MOFs) metal-phenolic networks (MPNs). Key advances their synthetic approaches via in-situ pre-synthesised coatings crucially addressed, yet methodology details specific advantages highlighted. Despite notable advancements, there various limitations challenges, such as determination long-term viability stability insufficient work on theranostic essentially scaling-up difficulties industrial clinical translation. latest advancements biohybrids related technology have established critical foundation enhancing innovative studies through strong interdisciplinary teamwork.
