This study examines the impacts of mobile information technology adoption on agrochemical expenditures, using data collected from 551 wheat farmers in China. Unlike previous studies that analyse a homogeneous relationship between technologies and farm input use, this study, an instrumental variable quantile regression approach is utilised to capture heterogeneous smartphone use pesticide fertiliser expenditures. Findings reveal affects expenditures heterogeneously, its expenditure are larger than those expenditure. Specifically, at lowest 20th quantile, significantly increases by 33 per cent 18 cent. However, higher 60th 80th quantiles, decreases 36–39 14–19 Our findings suggest guiding farmers’ usage behaviours through smartphone‐based intervention can be practical strategy help reduce excessive chemical pesticides fertilisers preserve environment human health.

The excessive use of chemical fertilisers seriously worsened the agro-ecological environment in China. Despite Chinese government enacted a series policies to reduce use, situation has not been significantly improved. Existing researches about fertiliser reduction mainly from single subject, but farmers' behaviour is jointly affected by multiple subjects, including farmers, market and government. To realize green sustainable development agriculture, this paper builds tripartite evolution model government, farmers consumers based on evolutionary game theory, simulates discusses process reduction. Results indicate: (1) Under different partnership modes, can evolve reach stable state. (2) government's ecological compensation for subsidies consumers' consumption are inadequate. Raising 200%–267% original level could incentive price approximately 136% help motivate make production transformation through mechanism. (3) Farmers' risk expectations negatively correlated with willingness willingness. Consumers' trust positively This study provides theoretical guidance making scientific decisions, serving as policy reference promote
