Published: June 22, 2022

The application of black soldier fly (BSF), Hermetia illucens based technology to process organic wastes presents a practical option for waste management by producing feed materials (protein, fat), biodiesel, chitin and biofertilizer. Therefore, BSF recycling is sustainable cost-effective that promotes resource recovery, generates valuable products, thereby creating new economic opportunities the industrial sector entrepreneurs. Specifically, we discussed significance larvae (BSFL) in biowaste. Despite fact BSFL may consume variety materials, whereas, certain lignocellulosic wastes, such as dairy manure, are deficient nutrients, which might slow development. nutritional value larval feeding substrates be improved mixing nutrient-rich like chicken manure or soybean curd residue, instance. Similarly, microbial fermentation used digest waste, releasing nutrients needed BSFL. In this mini-review, thorough discussion has been conducted on various biodegraded BSFL, their co-digestion substrate, well prospective applications safety possible by-products generated at completion treatment process. Furthermore, study examines present gaps challenges direction efficient commercialization its by-products.

Published: July 7, 2023

Biochar, a sustainable solid material derived from biomass pyrolysis enriched in carbon, has emerged as promising solution for soil carbon sequestration. This comprehensive review analyzes the current knowledge on biochar’s application this context. It begins by examining biochar properties and production methods, highlighting its recalcitrant nature potential stable sink. The influence of various feedstocks conditions physicochemical sequestration is explored. Mechanisms through which enhances are discussed, including role physical barrier against loss ability to promote aggregates microorganisms. Challenges limitations, such variations optimal rates, addressed, along with strategies maximizing effectiveness amendments. concludes emphasizing importance long-term field studies, standardized protocols, economic assessments support widespread adoption climate change mitigation.
