International interest in using waste-to-energy (WtE) technology toward a circular economy (CE) is developing, spurred by environmental challenges such as inefficient solid waste dumping, pollution, and resource depletion. Incineration, pyrolysis, gasification, landfill, anaerobic digestion are standard WtE technologies. Although these methods have been used for many decades, all countries try to implement the best plans based on their technologies capacities. Therefore, an up-to-date comprehensive study needed evaluate existing barriers draw logical roadmap CE. this review addresses recent policies adopted developed developing Based findings, most seek cost-effective environmentally sustainable pathways CE; meanwhile, international collaboration governmental support overcome find economically viable plan both future.

This study aims at reviewing the scientific literature related to microplastic (MP) pollution in various environmental matrices India and highlighting research gaps for future priorities. Currently used methods sampling, extraction, identification, characterization quantification of MPs were assessed, sources, distribution, transport pathways, fate, impacts, chemical risks MP-biota interactions marine freshwater ecosystems examined. Studies on spatial temporal pathways are very scarce, especially w.r.t. river discharge, anthropogenic activities, beach morphology, bottom topography, biofouling hydrodynamics. Though some amount baseline data select regions along Indian coast have been generated, extent MP air, major rivers nearshore continental shelf is still poorly understood. Moreover, this highlights an urgent need harmonized standardized sampling analytical research, that can enable us comparisons around world meaningful.
