Ball milling, as a cost-effective and eco-friendly approach, has been popular in materials synthesis to solve problems involving toxic reagents, high temperatures, or pressure, which the potential for large-scale production. However, there are few reviews specifically concentrating on latest progress characteristics before after ball milling well adsorptive application aqueous pollutants. Hence, this paper summarized principle classification of reviewed advances mechanochemical categories their adsorption performance organic inorganic capacity change materials’ crystal structure, specific surface areas, pore volumes, particle sizes even promote grafting reactions obtain functional groups surfaces. This improved amount, changed equilibrium time, strengthened force contaminants. Most studies showed that Langmuir model pseudo-second-order fitted experimental data well. The regeneration methods include thermal solvent methods. future developments field were also proposed. work tries review ball-milled pollutant provides comprehensive understanding physicochemical properties effects pollutants’ behavior. is conducive laying foundation further research water decontamination by materials.
