The spatial-temporal mismatch of water resources and socio-economic development in rapidly urbanized regions has been the focus resource management, is one main limitations to sustainable goals (SDGs). Guangdong Province represented by a highly developed economy society, undergoing disproportionately rapid population growth during past two decades. uneven distribution spatial have aggravated contradictions between supply demand. In this paper, we evaluate matching degree social economic elements, detect changing pattern degree, reveal mechanism using combined methods Thiel index, space–time Gini coefficient, Lorenz curve. results show that (1) temporal relatively balanced reasonable, while prominent deteriorating constantly, especially connection amount GDP; (2) volume pressure mainly concentrated Peral River Delta eastern western Guangdong, consumption stress lower northeastern Guangdong; (3) inequality dominated an intercity difference primarily caused regional differences. Based on results, policy implications, such as implementation integrated management plans, investment alternative sources, well enhanced public education establishment saving provided alleviate issue elements parameters, push realization water-related SDGs.
