Phosphate removal plays a pivotal role in alleviating eutrophication and maintaining water quality. Cerium (Ce) demonstrates considerable promise phosphate removal, attributed to its strong affinity for ions. This study provides dual utilization strategy synthesizing Fe2O3- CeCO3OH-decorated hydrophilic porous biochar (Fe/Ce@HPBC), designed recovery from eutrophic waters followed by application as slow-release fertilizer. Fe/Ce@HPBC possessed excellent adsorption quantity, achieving maximum uptake of 203.88 mg/g accordance with the Sips model. Furthermore, experiment demonstrated that used fertilizer after could sustainably release 39.8% content within 28 days. Fe/Ce@HPBC-P also significantly increase effective phosphorus soil 65.51% promote maize seedlings 70.36%. Mechanistic investigation revealed outstanding was formation inner-sphere complexation through ligand exchange between Ce(HCO3)2+/Ce–OH, addition electrostatic attraction caused enhanced surface protonation. Overall, this contributes advancement techniques promotes development sustainable agriculture presenting an mitigating eutrophication.

Abstract In this study, the Fe–Mn oxide/mulberry stem biochar composite adsorbent (FM-MBC) was prepared and fully characterized by SEM-EDS, XRD, BET, XPS. The solution pH (3.0, 4.5, 6.0), initial concentration of phosphorus (10, 20, 30 mg L −1 ), bed height (2, 3, 4 cm), flow rate (1, 2, 3 mL min ) were investigated to analyze breakthrough curves. results showed that time shortened as concentration, increased decreased. Higher concentrations, rates, lower heights, led a faster phosphate ions in FM-MBC adsorbent. Additionally, it observed increasing value not conducive adsorption Dynamic data fitted four models (Yoon-Nelson, Thomas, Adams-Bohart, Bed Depth Service Time), R 2 values Thomas Yoon-Nelson exhibited minimal variation, suggesting dynamic process rather intricate. saturated fixed-bed column (including FM-MBC) regenerated with NaOH or HCl, found 0.1 mol had best regeneration effect. XRD analysis reaction product between anions Fe (PO ·H O. Moreover, experimental can successfully be used remove from actual wastewater.

In order to promote the improvement of rural living environments, treatment domestic sewage has attracted much attention in China. Meanwhile, regions’ discharge standards are becoming increasingly stringent. However, standard compliance rate total phosphorus (TP) is very low, and TP become main limiting pollutant for water facilities. this study, oyster shell waste was employed as a calcium source, agricultural waste–rice husk used carbon source synthesize calcium-modified biochar adsorbent materials (Ca-BC) by simple one-step pyrolysis method. The resultant Ca-BC demonstrated efficient phosphate (P) adsorption from aqueous solutions over wide pH range (3–11) selectivity. Ca-BC’s capacity P increased with temperature, increasing 700 °C 900 °C, which attributed higher specific surface area oxide content at temperatures. sample, made shells rice husks mass ratio 2:1 temperature had maximum 196.2 mg/g. Langmuir model pseudo-second-order were best describing process, predominant sorption mechanism precipitation or hydroxide create hydroxyapatite. can effectively remove sewage. removal 93.9–99.4%. After treatment, met second-grade (TP < 3 mg/L) even first-grade 2 Discharge Standard Water Pollutants Centralized Rural Sewage Treatment Facilities (DB33/973-2021).
