Despite sustainable investment flows having increased significantly over the past decade for transforming current energy system, a large gap remains. This research explores complex links between institutional investors' expectations on speed of transition and their sustainability-related behaviours. Through in-depth semi-structured interviews with investors, we construct system model using causal mapping approach, illustrating relationships within system. Our contribution involves development multi-layer cognitive maps different types followed by composite map that dissects key behaviours investor expectations. Results reveal interlinked concepts influencing behaviour highlight feedback loops potential amplifying effects behaviour. Two critical emerge: 1) interplay political financial support associated cost, 2) intricate relationship sustainability factors asset valuation. Addressing these interconnected issues simultaneously monitor negative may curtail finance are vital. The results heterogeneities amongst investors such as fiduciary duties, stranded assets, importance fossil fuels in In sum, our insights provide foundation holistic policies reference evaluating aimed at accelerating green finance.

Among them, inheritance innovation branch most clear, gradually grows into backbone research. Major contribution reflected aspects: Firstly, provides repeatable quantitative description process basis significantly reducing researchers’ subjective participation. Secondly, perspective bibliometrics, direction key nodes development identified.
