Abstract The foundation industry, particularly the steel sector, is one of major sources global CO 2 emissions, with each ton produced using iron ores contributing approximately 1.4 (direct reduced iron-based process) to (blast furnace-based tons , ironmaking accounting for 70% these emission. Here, we present a study on potential double perovskite, Ba Ca 0.66 Nb 0.34 FeO 6-δ (BCNF), as splitting catalyst that converts into carbon monoxide (CO), reducing agent in ironmaking, which can be reintegrated process enable ‘in-process’ decarbonisation and facilitate close-loop recirculation. combines thermodynamic modelling, molecular dynamics simulations, material characterisation, lab-scale experimental system design, demonstrating efficiency practicality use BCNF emission reduction at moderate temperature range. Simultaneous Thermal Analysis COMSOL-based simulations were employed optimise reactor maximising yield. An economic analysis further supports scalability this technology decarbonising steelmaking bears significance broader applicability other industrial sectors, including non-ferrous metal smelting, cement, glass, ceramics, chemicals. This innovation offers promising pathway towards sustainable practices contributes efforts address climate change challenges. Graphical

As global focus on energy transition and carbon reduction grows, efficiency renewable investment have become key policy tools. This study explores the nonlinear relationship between fossil fuel consumption, emphasizing threshold effect of investment. Using panel data from 71 countries a dynamic model, analysis reveals that at low levels, improvements may be limited by rebound effect, failing to significantly reduce consumption. However, once surpasses critical threshold, begins play stronger role in reducing use. A heterogeneity further shows developed those with trading systems are more effective leveraging for emission reduction. The findings highlight need synergistic policies combining investment, markets, environmental regulations accelerate achieve neutrality.
