Geological hydrogen storage, seen as a viable solution for addressing energy demands and mitigating the intermittency of wind power, is gaining recognition. At present, there are no specific studies that estimate storage capacity potential integration in North Dakota despite state’s enormous resources capabilities. The study’s key innovation lies repurposing region historically associated with oil gas sustainable thereby sources. Moreover, innovative aspect this study involves field selection, site screening, characterization, mathematical modeling to simulate wind–hydrogen production geological system. A 15 MW farm, using real-world data from General Electric turbines, employed assess capacities within Middle Bakken formation. reveals substantial potentials wells W24814, W19693, W26990, 54,000, 33,000, 22,000 tons, respectively. These translate capabilities 1080, 660, 440 GWh, minimum durations 140, 80, 57 days, respectively, under 60% system efficiency. By pioneering traditionally dominated by fossil fuel extraction, research could play crucial role advancing Dakota’s transition, providing blueprint similar initiatives globally.

Hydrogen produced from renewable energy is being promoted to decarbonise global systems. To support this transition, standards, certification, and labelling schemes (SCLs) aim differentiate hydrogen products based on their system-wide carbon emissions method of production characteristics. However, certified as low-carbon, clean, or green does not guarantee broader sustainability across economic, environmental, social, governance dimensions. Through an international survey energy-sector professionals (n = 179), we investigated the desirable features for SCLs perceived advantages disadvantages certification. Our mixed-method study revealed general accordance feasible inclusion diverse criteria in SCLs, albeit with varying degrees essentiality. Within confines data, some differences viewpoints emerged respondents' geographical supply chain locations, which were associated sharing costs benefits. Qualitatively, respondents found idea SCL harmonisation attractive but weighed against risks duplication, complicated administrative procedures, contradictory regulation. The implications research centre need further studies inform policy recommendations overarching framework that embodies principles context multistakeholder governance.

In the context of China’s new power system, various regions have implemented policies mandating integration energy sources with storage, while also introducing subsidies to alleviate project cost pressures. Currently, there is a lack subsidy analysis for photovoltaic storage projects. order systematically assess economic viability projects after considering subsidies, this paper reviews relevant in Chinese market. It analyzes and revenue composition projects, constructs system dynamics model levelized electricity (LCOE) such Taking specific as an example, measures investment return rate under different scenarios. Combining allocation ratios internal indicators, net present value standards. The results indicate that, current positively stimulate they exhibit limited capacity cover costs, thereby failing incentivize capital market participation construction Rational optimization corresponding are crucial prerequisites enhancing widespread adoption This study not only aids decision making stations but contributes formulation policies.
