The study aimed to assess the lethal and sublethal toxicity effects of heavy metals, Cobalt (Co) Lead (Pb), on Aquatic oligochaete Tubifex tubifex, which is an essential environmental indicator. Experiments indicated that median concentration (LC50) was 998.2 mg/L for Co 207.5 Pb after 48 h exposure, reproducing higher compared Co. also detected effect exposure concentrations (680 95 Pb) over 7 14 days. results showed a significant reduction in activity antioxidants. For Cobalt, superoxide dismutase (SOD) decreased from 98 U/mg day 73 14, while glutathione (GSH) 20 μg/mL 13 μg/mL. Upon lead, SOD 68 GSH declined 18 μg/ml 8 μg/ml. These highlight crucial role antioxidants counteracting oxidative stress induced by making them real biomarkers monitoring pollution. highlights serious need develop sustainable strategies reduce these pollutants aquatic ecosystems.

The hazardous nature of heavy metals (HMs) in the ecosystem has drawn global attention due to its emergence as a major environmental and public health concern. As toxic are non-degradable, they affect not only animals but also human beings vegetation. These HMs long-lasting pollutants that travel vast distances from their site origin environment bioaccumulate humans other organisms through food chain. can cause extensive pollution since frequently produced by industrial activities inappropriate disposal procedures. Biosurfactants' (BSs) versatility makes them an appealing category plays essential role various biotechnological applications for remediation. BSs have variety characteristics, including metal binding, solubilization, emulsification. They remediate processes like complexation, ion exchange, solubilization. Furthermore, owing amphiphilic nature, improve sorption solubility hydrophobic contaminants reduce surface area interfacial tension immiscible liquids. result, BS-based remediation important part removal process multiple ways. This review aims provide information on function eliminating bioremediation sustainability.
