This study examines the mechanism of digital economy on low-carbon trade competitiveness in China’s manufacturing sector using panel data from 30 provinces 2011 to 2022, employing dynamic and moderated threshold model. The findings indicate that significantly enhances competitiveness. Although green patents contribute overall effect, they do not serve as primary indirect pathway through which impacts Among these patents, utility model demonstrate strongest mediating followed by invention design while show a weaker non-significant effect. Furthermore, facilitates transition energy consumption structures, indirectly boosting also uncovers heterogeneous moderating effects environmental regulations: market-based voluntary regulations positively moderate relationship, command-and-control moderation. Environmental regulation exhibits ‘U-shaped’ non-linear transitioning negative moderation below significant positive beyond critical value.

Trade-related carbon emissions have emerged as a significant environmental challenge, yet strategies to mitigate their impact remain underexplored. This paper examines the role of digital empowerment in reducing trade-embodied intensity services, with focus on value-added trade approach. Using panel data from 67 economies spanning 1995 2018, this empirically demonstrates that significantly lowers services. Key mechanisms driving reduction include scale effects, intra-industry enhancements, and structure optimizations. Our findings reveal both domestic foreign sources positively reduction, more pronounced effect developing compared developed ones. study advances understanding how economy influences competitiveness services provides critical insights for policymakers crafting service green development strategies.

The urgent global challenge of mitigating climate change has intensified the need to reduce carbon emissions. China significantly contributes greenhouse gas emissions, placing substantial pressure on its industrial sector shift toward a low-carbon economy. However, current efforts have not yet achieved adequate progress in emission reduction. Digital Transformation (DT), involving integration digital technologies into business operations, offers promising pathway for sustainable practices and reduction Chinese enterprises. This study investigates impact DT Carbon Emissions Intensity (CEI) using data from listed companies (2013–2022) explores moderating role Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) practices. Findings reveal that reduces CEI, with green technological innovation (GTI) acting as key intermediary. ESG moderates both direct relationship between CEI indirectly influences intermediary variables like GTI, further affecting CEI. Heterogeneity analysis shows effectively curbs capital- technology-intensive industries China’s eastern western regions, though is weaker elsewhere. recommends policymakers promote through targeted incentives, boost strengthen oversight disclosure. These measures can help enterprises leverage digitalization sustainability advance neutrality goals. insights also provide valuable recommendations other developing nations facing similar environmental challenges seeking development pathways.

Green and low-carbon use of urban land (GLUUL) high-quality economic development (HED) are two closely linked mutually reinforcing systems, their coordinated is great theoretical practical significance to the realization green sustainable development. Based on analysis, this paper used data from 2005 2020 measure GLUUL efficiency HED level coupling coordination degree (CCD) successively 282 cities in China, then analyzed in-depth main factors affecting CCD its spatial–temporal heterogeneity using GTWR model. This study found that (1) levels increasing with different trends, unbalanced. High-value systems show a staggered distribution pattern. (2) The was dominated by primary intermediate types, overall became increasingly coordinated, “intermediate coordination—advanced development” type having highest representation. (3) There gradual convergence spatial differences, showing an pattern “high northwest southeast, low central area”. (4) influence direction distinguishing. positive impact industrial structure upgrading (Isu) obviously greater than other factors, which has strongest effect corridor along Yangtze River Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region. findings can offer insightful recommendations for promoting China similar developing countries regions.
