Pre-ozonation can enhance the removal of algae in source water during cyanobacterial blooms; however, little is known about influence co-existing allochthonous natural organic matter (NOM) on algal and (AOM) behavior ozonation. This study aims to elucidate presence absence NOM effects varying ozone doses Synechococcus sp. cell removal, membrane integrity, dissolved (DOM) release removal. The results indicate that effectively disrupted membranes, reducing density; delayed rupture by competing for due aromatic humic-like substances. Pterin-like protein-like fluorescent compounds were released upon disruption. Due that, excess led oxidation pterin-like compounds, with characteristic fluorescence changes correlating dosage; these are potential be used as an indicator determine optimized dosage, avoiding more adverse intracellular AOM form disinfection byproducts.
