In metal hydride beds (MHBs), reaction heat transfer often limits the dynamic performance. Heat within MHB usually involves solid and gas phases. To account for both, an effective thermal conductivity (ETC) is defined. Measuring predicting ETC of primary importance when designing hydride-based systems high dynamics. This review paper presents integral overview experimental modeling approaches to characterize in MHBs. The most relevant methods measuring are described, results scopes shown. A comprehensive description models applied calculate MHBs under different conditions developed. Moreover, effects operation parameters such as P, T, composition on presented analyzed. Finally, a summary conclusions about techniques, historical with classification models, discussion needed parameters, comparison between calculated provided.
