Introduction Complex mineral mining leads to critical earth’s surface disturbance and environmental pollution from industrial waste. This research aims comprehensively study, assess show the current scale of disturbances in largest region Ukraine – Kryvyi Rih. Iron-ore Basin suggests ways improve situation based on backfill technologies for rehabilitation waste utilization. Methods To identify forms disturbance, their parameters, spatial location, satellite images region, government statistical data, a geographic information system software suite were studied. An analysis effectiveness existing reclamation measures technogenic voids was carried out, new concept restoration proposed using beneficiation tailings, which are difficult utilize region. Results It has been determined that contribution Rih generation is 92.08% total volume accumulations Dnipropetrovsk Oblast 65.5% as whole, amounting 10.7 billion tons. 65.25% disturbed land area waste, 34.76% quarry cavities mine failure zones, occupying 49% city area. accumulation density allotted areas shows per 1 m 2 area, average, 183.5 tons dump rocks 73.5 tailings placed. Disposal recognized priority, because utilization slower, occupy creating risk dams breaching intense dusting surface, threatening environment public health. For first time Ukraine, various purposes developed paste technologies. Discussion Paste technology implementation prioritized central northern parts city, can dispose at least 65–70 million reclaim about 200 ha land. The results valuable development strategies or programs overcome technogenic-ecological crisis city. rehabilitated be usefully involved infrastructure projects economic potential an such

Caving mining in extra-thick coal seams induces large-scale overburden movement, leading to more intense fracture processes key strata, significant surface subsidence, and frequent dynamic disasters mines. This study, using the N34-2 caving face of 17th seam at Junde Mine as a case aims investigate time-varying linkage mechanism between microseismic characteristics, scales overburden's strata under such conditions. Based on Timoshenko's theory, bearing mode for is proposed, corresponding criteria are established. The modes step distances working were calculated theoretically verified localization data, showing that higher prone failure, increase distances. Numerical simulations monitoring techniques employed comprehensively analyze main controlling factors subsidence. To further clarify high-position full cycle divided into four sub-processes: short-term fracture, rapid compaction stability, energy accumulation. relationship subsidence responses analyzed each sub-process, establishing system. approach offers systematic accurate method predict assess movement processes, providing new insights prevention control rock burst seams.

It is important to carry out timely scientific assessments of surface subsidence in coal resource cities for ecological environmental protection. Traditional simulation methods cannot quantitatively describe the driving factors that contribute or ignore dynamic connections across time and space. Thus, a novel spatio-temporal model proposed couples random forest (RF) cellular automaton (CA) models, which are used quantify contributions simulate changes subsidence. The RF algorithm first utilized clarify formulate transformation rules simulation. Then, accomplished by combining it with CA model. Finally, method validated based on Yongcheng coalfield. results show depth–thickness ratio (0.242), distance working face (0.159), buildings (0.150), lithology (0.147) play main roles development Meanwhile, can effectively mining were evaluated using 2021 data as basis data; simulation’s overall accuracy (OA) was 0.83, Kappa coefficient (KC) 0.71. This obtain more realistic representation distribution while considering factors, provides technological support land-use planning protection cities.

The conflict between exploitation of coal resources and environmental protection is highly pronounced in the Wanli mining area, located arid semi-arid region Inner Mongolia, China. impact operations has led to varying degrees surface subsidence, which further threatens ecological environment as extraction continues. Small Baseline Subset Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SBAS-InSAR) technique offers significant advantages over traditional subsidence monitoring methods, particularly complex terrain with vertical horizontal valleys. This approach enables large-scale, low-cost, all-weather monitoring. Based on 64 Sentinel-1A SAR images from 2018 2023, this study aims promptly identify location, deformation degree, evolution characteristics mining-induced within area using SBAS-InSAR techniques. results indicate that affected by covers 109.73 km2, a maximum cumulative 283.41 mm velocity 46.45 mm/y. Additionally, during field verification, 29 ground fractures, predominantly along precipitous borders areas, were identified, validating credibility results. demonstrates technology remains effective erosional Loess Plateau. data can help in-production accurately patterns induced operations. It provides reliable policymaking support makes contributions optimize cost-efficiency guide targeted efforts subsequent management work well other areas.
