ABSTRACT The effect of El Niño on summer heat extremes in China has been a topic previous studies, but the effects different types developing have not conclusive. We examined and found that there are spatial differences under types. eastern Pacific (EP) favours from North to central decreases them southeastern China. mixed‐type (MP) east‐central between 29°N 35°N. (CP) increases 37°N southern physical mechanisms underlying above spatially distinct clarified through circulation localised key climatic factors. Thus, predictability can be improved based judging Niños conditions.
