Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) previously focused mainly on multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria, with less attention viruses. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of controlling viral infections. Human rhinoviruses (HRVs) are among viruses responsible for HAIs. HRVs non-enveloped that infect upper airways after airborne or direct transmission. Due to their lack a membrane envelope, exhibit moderate resistance commonly applied alcoholic disinfectants. Therefore, there is significant need develop alternative disinfection and hand sanitation strategies control HRV in healthcare settings without posing risk human health. antimicrobial activity safety rhamnolipids nano-micelles (RMN) against MDR-bacteria several viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, were confirmed recently. Also, we demonstrated superior RMN over rhamnolipids. In current study, molecular docking weak interactions HRV-1A (minor group) compared HRV-14 (major group), suggesting antiviral towards major group rhinoviruses. Limited methods exist to determine the composition of particle mixtures. This research presents a simple UV-vis-spectroscopy-based method for separate quantification particles mixtures considering following: synthesized ferrihydrite, commercial Fe2O3, and natural allophane. Calibration curves adsorption/scattering coefficients are determined each at different wavelengths. is main input solve equation systems and, ultimately, quantify concentration in binary The limit detection varies with wavelength type, yielding values as low 1.5, 0.2, 1.6 mg L−1 ferrihydrite (500 nm), Fe2O3 (450 allophane respectively. study provides simple, low-cost straightforward method, compared atomic-spectroscopy- or chromatography-based techniques, resolving suspension.
