This study proposes a novel fouling control approach based on an anaerobic filter membrane bioreactor (AnFMBR). The introduction of this filter, primarily targeting ultrafiltration tank sludge, considerably mitigated and consequently boosted system stability filtration efficiency. A comprehensive assessment over 140 days operation shows that the AnFMBR had significantly greater resistance to pollution than traditional AnMBR. While both exhibited similar trends at start period, consistently displayed reduced across various layers substantial cake layer reduction in particular. difference is attributable ability preemptively solid pollutants, especially from layer, thereby substantially lowering potential. Additionally, cloth media preprocessed reactor's mixed liquor, diminishing concentrations liquor suspended solids, volatile extracellular polymeric substances. However, specific soluble microbial products, particularly polysaccharides, remained impactful for gel formation during early stages. In conclusion, incorporation filters into systems appears be valuable innovation minimizing enhancing wastewater treatment

The selection of a suitable draw solution (DS) is critically important for the forward osmosis (FO)-based processes since membrane fouling and inhibition caused by DS are key problems in anaerobic osmotic bioreactor (AnOMBR) systems. This study aims to select AnOMBR system treating slaughterhouse wastewater, considering results FO performance biochemical methane potential (BMP) test. In first step study, DSs obtained from literature review were subjected prescreening, 18 evaluated. Eight out (4 organics 4 inorganics) selected using analytical hierarchical process (AHP). second stage, reverse salt flux selectivity (RSFS), water (Jw), (Js) values determined evaluate 8 batch experiments. A BMP test was performed investigate effect each on performance. experimental studies AHP analysis. analysis showed that MgCl2 most DS. autopsy demonstrated primary source accumulation membrane's surface. Although did not seriously damage structure, it surface become rougher more hydrophobic.
