Microbial pigments have many structures and functions with excellent characteristics, such as being biodegradable, non-toxic, ecologically friendly, constituting an important source of pigments. Industrial production presents a bottleneck in cost that restricts large-scale commercialization. However, microbial are progressively gaining popularity because their health advantages. The development metabolic engineering reduction the bioprocess using industry by-products opened possibilities for quality improvements all phases. We thus addressing several points related to pigments, including major classes found, advantages use, biotechnological applications different industrial sectors, impacts on environment society.

Notable increases in metal consumption and declining ore grades recent decades have stressed the significance of dilute solutions as secondary sources valuable metals. Moreover, environmental considerations imperative sustainable development further emphasized their treatment. Therefore, finding an efficient solution for separating metals from has attracted attention numerous researchers. This paper reviews purification processes highlights key achievements published research works. Although this study focuses on evaluating efficiency recently developed aqueous-phase methods, such immobilized ligands, ionic liquids, air-assisted solvent extraction, application conventional to treat these solutions, ion exchange, membranes, chemical precipitation, adsorption are also briefly outlined. To provide a comprehensive assessment, more than 200 articles were reviewed, findings stated study. contributes advancement knowledge recovery sheds light dynamic evolution field.

Cyanobacteria are widespread phototrophic microorganisms that represent a promising biotechnological tool to satisfy current sustainability and circularity requirements. They potential bio-factories of wide range compounds can be exploited in several fields including bioremediation nanotechnology sectors. This article aims illustrate the most recent trends use cyanobacteria for bioremoval (i.e., cyanoremediation) heavy metals metal recovery reuse. Heavy biosorption by combined with consecutive valorization obtained metal-organic materials get added-value compounds, nanoparticles, opening field phyconanotechnology. It is thus possible approaches could increase environmental economic feasibility cyanobacteria-based processes, promoting transition toward circular economy.

Nostoc sp. is a cyanobacterium identified in several localities of Ecuador, and it exhibits significant potential the pharmaceutical, food, environmental sectors, which urges exploration its possible applications country. Macrocolonies were collected at different seasons, content metals, sulfur, biochemical composition was analyzed according to altitude geographic position. The results showed that average carbohydrate corresponds 30.34% dry biomass, 27.38% ash, 25.33% protein, 7.66% crude fiber, 0.71% fat. Regarding metals elements, found Aluminum presented highest value 2049.23 mg/kg, followed by 1786.74 1364.08 443.12 mg/kg Fe, Mg, S, respectively, with lowest for Cu, Ni, Pb, Cd 7.34 5.62 3.99 0.74 mg/kg; respectively; following descending order: Al>Fe>Mg>S>Cu>Ni>Pb>Cd all sites sampled regardless period rain or drought. Consequently, adsorb these elements from environment preliminarily demonstrated, showing could be used bioremediation contaminated soils waters an essential bioindicator pollution.
