While pre-drying of sewage sludge prior to hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) is rarely practiced, it has been conducted in numerous studies. The possible influence on HTC and hydrochar quality, however, not thoroughly examined. aim this current study was evaluate the different methods (freeze-dry, air-dry, vacuum-dry at 70oC 105oC) subsequent 220oC. This assessment focused examining hydrochar's chemical composition, fuel properties, pyrolysis combustion behavior, as well characterization liquid phase. There little difference surface carbon functional groups between samples hydrochars. study's results indicate that impacts sludge's composition pyrolysis/combustion behavior. However, no meaningful differences exist yield, behavior findings could offer valuable, quantitative insights into process for treating sludge, enhancing comprehension knowledge process.
