Recent developments in biochar materials have led to renewed interest modification for environmental applications, however, much uncertainty still exists about the impact of engineered on a given biotechnological process. The redox properties were considered be key property enhancing methanogenic process, and activity was closely related type amount oxygen-containing functional groups, especially quinone groups. Therefore, anthraquinone-2-sulfonate (AQS) immobilized algal (ABC) by surface doping method, impacts quinone-functionalization process regulating methane production investigated this study. Results showed that immobilization capacity AQS ABC (ABC-AQS) reached 0.289 mmol/g. acidogenesis rate improved 26.3% with addition ABC-AQS during anaerobic digestion test. However, inhibited rather than enhanced ABC-AQS, which could attributed strong acid treatment stage involved pH interferences, generation and/or dissolution inhibitory substances, release Zn 2+ should major mechanisms microbial inhibition ABC-AQS. findings study give us an important clue when designing procedure digestion, attentions paid possible influences chemical side reactions subsequent metabolism, would valuable practical applications.
