Abstract Heterogeneous catalysis has become a key methodology for the sustainable synthesis of organic reactions and heterocyclic compounds. Among various catalysts, graphene oxide (GO) its functionalized derivatives (fGO) stand out due to their high surface area, mechanical strength, tunable electronic properties. This review provides detailed overview role GO in catalysis, emphasizing structural features, functionalization strategies, catalytic applications. Specific such as oxidation, reduction, esterification, are discussed, with focus on superior performance (fGO). Challenges like stability aggregation explored, alongside potential solutions through chemical, thermal, electrochemical functionalization.
