Abstract Photocatalytic technology is one of the most promising technologies for wastewater treatment. In this study, an Ag 2 S/Ag 3 VO 4 heterojunction was prepared by combination in‐situ partial sulfidation and hydrothermal technologies. The photodegradation results demonstrated that highest removal efficiency RhB 96% 40%‐Ag in 6 min under visible light irradiation, which obviously superior to pure (∼46% min) S (∼1.8% photocatalysts. As manifested DSR experiment, improved ability attributed enhanced absorption excellent electron‐hole pairs separation induced formation a Z‐scheme between . active species capture experiments confirmed h + plays important role degradation RhB. Furthermore, cyclic test revealed owned photocatalytic stability.

Nano metal oxides (NMOs), with their unique physico-chemical properties and low toxicity, have become a focus of research in heterogeneous catalysis. Their distinct characteristics, which can be tailored based on size structure, make them highly efficient catalysts. NMOs the potential to significantly contribute degradation numerous environmental pollutants through photolytic decomposition. This work comprehensively analyzes synthesis, catalytic performance, applications photocatalytically active oxides, specifically titanium, zinc, copper, iron, silver, tin, tungsten oxides. The primary objective is demonstrate how effectiveness photocatalytic processes enhanced optimized by incorporating metals, non-metals, metalloids into structure forming heterostructures. Furthermore, aim understand underlying process oxidation thoroughly. Photocatalysis, promising approach advanced processes, has garnered significant interest these fields.
