Odor emission has become a major issue in waste transfer stations. Hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan (MM), and dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) are the main odorous gases. They have low odor threshold difficult to remove. In this study, pine bark biochar was produced modified with metal ions, including Ni2+, Ti2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Mg2+, Cu2+. It then used for removal of hydrogen mercaptan, disulfide. Among all modifications, Cu2+ showed best sorption capacity, maximum amounts were 20.50 mg/g H2S, 36.50 MM, 57.98 DMDS. To understand adsorption, BET, SEM, XPS original performed. This illustrated that modification increased surface area porosity, thus enhancing adsorption capacity. alkaline absorption it found three gases pH increase. Based on results, combined process called absorption–adsorption established treat gas generated local station. Thirty-one components detected The proceeded 30 days, these not effluent during treatment. Regarding DMDS, they even after 90 days. indicates high capacity toward addition, is simple easy operate. suggests suitable treating places where there no technician, needs efficient study provides feasible alternative domestic stations control problem.
