ABSTRACT The removal of nitrate and phosphate ions from water bodies is essential to reduce eutrophication health hazards. In the present study, a hybrid polymer nanocomposite has been developed for adsorptive wastewater. preparation achieved by microwave irradiation aqueous mixture chitosan (CS), poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDADMAC), N‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)acrylamide (HEAAm) N,N′‐methylenebis(acrylamide) (MBA) in presence radical initiator followed incorporation magnetite nanoparticles. A semi‐interpenetrating network (IPN) appears be formed entanglement PDADMAC chains with MBA crosslinked chitosan‐graft‐poly[N‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)acrylamide] within which Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles are held. materials (CS‐g‐PHEAAm)/PDADMAC (CS‐g‐PHEAAm)/PDADMAC/Fe were characterized their physicochemical structures using FTIR, XRD, SEM, EDS, BET, VSM, TGA techniques. Their utility as adsorbents was evaluated through adsorption studies. process optimized contact time, solution pH, adsorbent dosage, temperature, initial adsorbate concentration. data showed close fit Freundlich isotherm pseudo‐second‐order kinetic models. observed enhance capacity parent IPN significantly value 60.97 65.35 mg g −1 towards 69.93 76.33 phosphate. thermodynamic studies indicated spontaneous endothermic process. regeneration ability along its superparamagnetic biodegradable characteristics makes it material choice absorptive
