Abstract The photocatalytic conversion of biomass and plastic waste provides opportunities for sustainable fuel chemical production. Heterogeneous photocatalysts, typically composed semiconductors with distinctive redox properties in their conduction band (CB) valence (VB), facilitate both the oxidative reductive valorization organic feedstocks. This article a comprehensive overview recent advancements photorefinery plastics from perspective photocatalysts. We explore roles VB CB enhancing value‐added via various pathways. Our aim is to bridge gap between mechanisms renewable carbon feedstock valorization, inspiring further development refinery plastics.

In recent years, solar energy catalytic conversion of biomass increment has attracted more and attention due to its advantages saving environmental protection. However, standard semiconductor-based photocatalytic systems affected by the low solar-chemical efficiency obviously hinders development in view limited light harvesting abilities. The emergence photothermal materials not only extends absorption range spectrum (up full spectrum), but are also capable generating localized heating (generating high-energy hot carriers) trigger surface-catalyzed reactions and/or modulate reaction pathways, thus synergistically improving efficiency. Thus, catalysis combines positive aspects photocatalysis thermocatalysis, it is a promising technology for derivatives into value-added products. this work, we mainly introduce principle conversion, some applied situation various types substrates etc. Finally, solution strategies outlooks regarding proposed.
