In this chapter, we review the contributions of past research on tourists' knowledge, perceptions, and behaviours towards invasive non-native species (INNS) globally. Although is an underrepresented topic in invasion science field, highlight its importance for improving scientific understanding, policy, management. particular, a better understanding knowledge perceptions can help with well-targeted education awareness campaigns to mitigate their role introduction spread INNS as well develop strategies mobilize tourists contribute control invasions sites they visit. For example, enhancing engagement could also provide extra revenues manage at popular touristic sites, illustrated by numerous willingness-to-pay studies. A tourists, tourism-related stakeholders other actors give insights into conflicts inform measures them future. More policies build broader buy management make actions more socially acceptable.

Ecological restoration is the process of repairing ecosystems that have been degraded by human activity. Because success depends upon support communities, engaging with cultural values held local people critical to process. Cultural are closely beliefs about what important grounded in historical and contemporary relationships ecosystems. To address extent projects peer-reviewed literature consider values, we conducted a systematic review covering 1994–2021, resulting sample 56 articles. From our review, found include data on collected mostly through qualitative approaches. Concepts from analysis, ecosystem services, traditional ecological knowledge commonly used frame restoration. Drawing results, suggest standardized set best practices for practitioners researchers incorporating into their projects.

Many barriers prevent ranchers from supporting prescribed fire on grazing leases or their own land. Barriers include negative perceptions of resources limitations, and fear liability. We surveyed ranching landowners around four National Grasslands in North South Dakota—public grazinglands managed by the USDA Forest Service—to assess landowner attitudes towards provide insight into to using burning Grasslands. Respondents reported being motivated an interest stewardship want managers prioritize sound science decision-making But respondents generally had little awareness potential benefits. Last chance tourism (LCT) has received significant attention within the academic literature and popular press because of its controversial nature bringing travelers to threatened places. However, little theory been applied understand why gravitate toward this type tourism. Hence, work combines value–belief–norm (VBN) model planned behavior (TPB) framework explain intentions participate in LCT. Survey data were collected from a national panel ( n = 436) US 2019. A two-step modeling approach (confirmatory factor analysis structural equation modeling) was followed examine psychometrics hypothesized relationships between VBN constructs, TPB Of 11 hypotheses examined, nine supported, with both theories combining 61% variance travelers’ intentions. The construct “social norms” best predictor LCT intentions, emphasizing conspicuous LCT’s influence on demand.

Abstract With increasing attention to climate change and biodiversity loss, conservation social science research on land management practices is burgeoning. Researchers have broadened their focus from protected areas diverse types of support mitigation. But, developing effective strategies for these issues requires an in‐depth understanding both the socio‐psychological factors that guide landholders' decision‐making global trends in literature. To assess status behavior research, we systematically reviewed published between 2010 2020 five seminal journals. Of 11,607 articles reviewed, identified 100 about behavior. We assessed theoretical groundings, measurement methodology, land‐use terminology practices, ecosystem type, geographic distribution. strengths significant gaps weaknesses across research. For example, 52% made no meaningful connection theory, only 14% papers used observed behavioral data, 86% studies uses non‐experimental methods researchers disproportionately measured developed nations (66%). also find language describe very heterogeneous, making it difficult summarize using traditional systematic review methods. Conducting a limited can help identify disciplines might otherwise missed. Results our future development evidence‐based policies mitigate loss.
