Abstract To investigate the characteristics of soil bacterial communities and ecosystem functions different reclaimed vegetation types in mine sites, we selected surface soils areas with no cover (CK), herbaceous plants (GL), poplar (GPL), mixed forests (ML) as research objects this paper, analyzed community diversity composition potential through high-throughput sequencing 16S rRNA genes, fitted a comprehensive fertility index principal component analysis (PCA) to comprehensively evaluate quality various aspects. The results showed that: (1) There were significant differences (p < 0.05) physicochemical among types, ML having highest organic carbon total nitrogen contents lowest electrical conductivity. Soil effective phosphorus potassium GL area, significantly higher sucrase urease activities. (2) differed lower but co-occurrence network complexity forests; (3) KEGG enrichment that abundance pathways related carbon, sulphur metabolism all plants, GPL poplar; (4) integrated fitting ponds was other soils. In summary, restoration able improve diversity, herbaceous-restored had levels function, providing empirical data for subsequent area.

Coal mining in China has resulted numerous subsided areas, exacerbating land scarcity issues. The Yellow River carries a high sediment load of nearly 1.6 billion tons annually. Cleaning up the accumulated silt is costly and takes land. Reusing from to fill reclaim areas caused by coal addresses both sedimentation reclamation issues, killing two birds with one stone. Nonetheless, technical challenges have emerged, such as machinery sinking into soil, difficulty draining water, poor soil quality improvement. To tackle these understanding physical mechanical properties essential. Results show that average particle size (D50) 0.08 mm, categorized fine-grained sandy relatively uniform distribution. permeability coefficient 2.91 × 10−3 cm·s−1, similar silty indicating feasibility for filling reclamation. However, low requires drainage improvement accelerate construction timelines. internal friction angle ranges 34.67° 31.76°, cohesion 20.79 23.92 kPa. ensure safe stable construction, must not sink material. It recommended enhance about 13% quicker construction. compression 0.05 MPa−1, compressibility. Mechanical economically viable during process. Design elevation (H) (h) should account cumulative deformation settlement.
