Abstract Climate change, such as temperature and precipitation changes, is becoming increasingly obvious, in this context, planting designs need to urgently consider future climate change advance. A field experiment was conducted Beijing, China, where the predicted increase, extra irrigation used simulate increase. The species richness of sown meadows, including spontaneous plants plants, adaptive strategies communities were recorded under different types design models substrates. results showed that increased diversity resource-demanding but had no significant effect on dry matter content entire community species. Moreover, interactions among substrate, especially models, significant. Of three-layer model highest least invasive plants. In addition, significantly changed functional strategy plant away from ruderals towards competitor-stress tolerant This study provides guidance for management naturalistic change.

Abstract The method of developing city centers is the responsibility local authorities, which must reconcile interests investors applying for valuable land with utility needs and expectations residents regarding, inter alia, free squares green enclaves. This study was conducted in Warsaw (Poland). In area, 20 years there has been a discussion about how area should be developed. So far, used as lawns. During monitoring period, 72 plant taxa were found. It possible to state that an urban lawn ecosystem relatively stable conditions, is, however influenced by human disturbance specific stress city. A oasis greenery easy set up maintain, case modernization, it does not generate large costs related its restoration, unlike gardens. Maintaining intensive requires only selection appropriate grass species resistant influences environment, but also optimal way us it. research can choose managing maintaining greenery, considering conditions spatial development environmental factors.

Influenced by the interplay of global climate change and urbanization, urban plants have become increasingly homogenized in China. However, regional effects biotic homogenization cannot be clearly explained due to lack continuous large-scale data. Thus, we explored characteristics homogenization, which not only contributes improvement biodiversity, but also has important value for human well-being. Here, analyzed woody 101 cities 8 major agglomerations The diversity patterns influencing factors were using generalized additive, geographically weighted regression, structural equation models. main results as follows: (1) issue plant is primarily manifested greening species (2) exhibit notable at a large scale. (3) Latitude, area, altitude climatic all impact homogenization. found that variations, influenced both natural anthropogenic factors. Finally, suggested biodiversity management should considered specific environmental, meet needs residents.

With the increasing urban environmental problems, spontaneous vegetation has been gradually emphasized for high ecological value, whose distribution reported as strongly influenced by fine-scale factors. As one of major zones distribution, riparian corridors are well suited research on response plants to microhabitats. Taking Wenyu River-North Canal in Beijing study site, we measured six microhabitat factors, including level maintenance and visitor activity, canopy density, litter thickness, distance water road, investigate their effects plant assemblages. The results showed that respond significantly habitat variation, were more responsive human disturbance than other Compared with diversity indicators, functional trait compositions correlated Under lower plants, communities had a higher invasion risk plants. Thick can impede occurrence invasive species while favoring growth native ones. Our findings important furthering understanding community establishment, serve good reference management corridors.

Abstract Spontaneous plants are crucial components of urban biodiversity. The distribution spontaneous can be profoundly affected by their seed dispersal mode and environmental factors in systems. Since a comprehensive investigation into the drivers successful modes is still lacking, we explored impacts natural factors, limitation, habitat quality on diversity pattern plants. We assessed patterns four 16 major cities Yunnan province, most biodiverse province China. A total 1,744 916 genera 175 families were recorded 893 green patches. dominating (13 out 16) was autochory (33.5–38.7%), with hydrochory being least frequent (4.3–10.9%). Our research highlights heavily disturbed anthropogenic ecosystems, such as areas, tend to adopt convergent strategies address stressors. Their richness significantly higher colder humid climates. However, limitations (measured distance city boundary, size urbanization rate) increased decrease (as expressed patch area), all experienced reduction. sensitivities among different these divergent. Hydrochory exhibited strongest sensitivity climate factors. Whereas demonstrated sensitivity, anemochory showed weakest limitation. These results suggest that include improving or creating corridors mitigate limitation between areas surrounding mountains will valuable additions biodiversity conservation efforts.

Informal green spaces (IGSs) are vital yet under-researched urban areas that enhance biodiversity, provide ecosystem services, and improve the well-being of residents. However, lack a consistent definition comprehensive understanding their multifunctional roles has hindered effective integration into planning. The current literature review aimed to clarify concept IGSs, analyze research trends, identify further areas. Using combined bibliometric systematic analysis approach, 150 articles from Web Science database, published 1996 2024, were analyzed. identified 54 relevant documents on effects areas, revealing diverse growing body including types, distribution, socioeconomic contexts. findings indicated an increasing trend in collaborative studies, using “informal space” as official term. This proposed clear IGS, emphasizing its visibility, formal recognition, minimal management, spontaneous vegetation, temporary nature underscoring substantial environmental social benefits. Furthermore, this highlighted need for standardized definitions interdisciplinary studies fully harness potential thereby essential contribution biodiversity regulation microclimates.
