A scientific understanding of the trends water-related ecosystem services (WESs) under different scenarios is crucial to improving WESs and maintaining ecological security. However, there a lack high-resolution land use simulation assessment SSP-RCP scenarios, impacts land-use change (LUC) on are not clear. This study focused Poyang Lake Basin (PYLB), utilizing PLUS model InVEST explore dynamic changes historically in future, reveal specific LUC from 2000 2020. The results demonstrated that: (1) forest increased both SSP1-2.6 SSP2-4.5 but first then decreased SSP5-8.5 scenarios; Cropland significantly construction showed an expansion trend three scenarios. (2) From 2020, only water purification capacity decreased, while rest increased. Under scenario, overall benefits PYLB were highest. (3) Between deforestation brought about greatest increase yield (+9.06 × 108 m3). most conservation loss (−18.19 Additionally, cropland reduction largest soil retention (+3.94 105 t +4.79 t) enhanced purification, opposite was true for deforestation. conclusions can provide important basis protection high-quality development PYLB.

Urbanization is a key factor that threatens the stability of ecosystem services (ESs), which are crucial for maintaining ecological security and enhancing human quality life. Gaining insight into spatiotemporal differentiation service value (ESV) its coupling relationship with urbanization issue in promoting sustainable regional development. We employed various algorithms, including improved equivalence method, random forest model, mixed geographically temporally weighted regression coordination degree (CCD) to reveal evolution ESV driving mechanisms Lanzhou-Xining urban agglomeration (LXUA) from 1980 2020. In addition, we explored between combined index (CUI). The results showed following: (1) From 2020, interannual variation first decreased then increased, an increase 230 million yuan/annum 2020 compared 1980. Spatially, exhibits distribution pattern high south low north, west east. (2) Land use intensity (LUI) elevation contributed values exceeding 20% were most important drivers ESV. (3) average CCD CUI transitioned being severely unbalanced (0.19) slightly balanced (0.42). There was negative spatial correlation CUI, each cluster type distributed discretely space. Our study emphasizes areas characterized by robust integrity ESV, LUI constitutes main reason decline findings this can provide scientific basis coordinated development ESVs LXUA other cities.

The national ecological security barrier holds a pivotal position within the framework of strategy for conservation and restoration. Concurrently, border areas, as focal point homeland strategy, have garnered considerable attention. These two concepts collectively present profound implication upholding security. To this end, monitoring changes barriers, exploring driving mechanisms such constitutes foremost imperative in comprehending advancing theory. However, current research has yet to extend application theory scale. This paper integrates with China's land cities belt, constructing Ecological Security Barrier Land Borders (ESBCLB). Then, produces Remote Sensing Index (RSEI) products early 21st century (2000–2021, 21 periods) by using Google Earth Engine (GEE). Based on pixel scale calculations classifications, spatial-temporal evolution characteristics patterns ESBCLB are objectively obtained. Finally, employs Geographically Temporally Weighted Regression (GTWR) model explore six primary indicators, namely, economy, human activity, transportation, topography, hydrography climate, which may impacts environment ESBCLB. Through analysis, concludes that (1) On whole, not substantial, regions where remains unchanged accounting 73.78%. Among occurred, those north Aksu Prefecture Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous exhibit predominantly improved trend, while south show degraded trend. (2) ten identified based characteristics, pattern no significant change persistence well counter persistence. Apart from these, very better dominate majority cases; (3) Overall, hydrography, climate spatial heterogeneity RSEI. them, positive correlations RSEI While economy transportation negative correlations. significance lies it provides scientific basis theoretical support specific study regional environment.

As one of the most dynamic natural elements, water resources play a vital role in both ecological and economic activities. The rational allocation is essential for sustainable development human society. Using data from prefecture-level cities Yangtze River Economic Belt 2013 to 2022, this study employs Cobb–Douglas (C-D) production function measure degree resource distortion across provinces cities. Additionally, panel model applied analyze influencing factors. key findings are as follows: issue excessive widespread Belt, with highest observed middle reaches, where average index reaches 1.43—significantly higher than that upstream (1.15) downstream (1.20) regions. Water endowment, South-to-North Diversion Project, rising prices contribute significantly improving allocation, whereas increased industrial use efficiency government intervention exacerbate distortions. Regionally, factors exhibit broadly similar effects provinces. In sectoral analysis, only estimated coefficients policies show directional differences, other have no significant impact on distortion. By identifying extent causes misallocation, provides empirical evidence support region-specific management strategies, aiming enhance promote development.
