Risk management for agricultural use of digested sewage sludge requires better understanding the behaviour and fate contaminant metals in plant root zone. A study employing rhizo-pot plug-tray experiments was conducted to identify zone near spring barley roots (Hordeum vulgare) where concentration speciation Cu Zn are affected. bonding environments epidermis/cortex vascular tissue were also identified. In sludge-amended soil, absorbed only from immediate vicinity (<< 1 mm), but taken up further afield (> mm). rhizosphere predominately present as Cu(I) oxides or Cu(II) absorbed/bonded phosphate, whereas Zn(II) inner-sphere complexes with metal oxide surfaces, sulphides bonded to/incorporated into carbonates. taken-up by largely sequestered epidermis and/or cortex coordination similar those seen rhizosphere. Only a small proportion translocated (where it is same two environments). sulphides, carbonates, Zn(II)-organic complexes. readily shoots. Better these differences mobility uptake soils could be used undertake element specific risk assessments.

This study investigated the effects of adding earthworm mucus on changes in sludge compost bacterial community structure and its response to environmental factors. The results showed that improved composting effect sludge, reducing nitrogen loss increasing nutrients; decreased by 5.55%, potassium phosphorus increased 10.23 16.28%, respectively.Firmicutes, Chloroflexi, Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria were main phyla with a combined relative abundance over 60%.The addition significantly impacted activity, dominant bacteria during process.Redundancy analysis factors composting. The indicate increases advantageous playing essential roles composting, enhancing fertility maturity products phosphorus.Based relationship between communities, can be regulating (such as pH moisture content), effectiveness composting.
