In recent years, climate change has increased the frequency of extreme rainfall events, significantly impacting surface water quality (SWQ). This study focuses on Hangzhou, utilizing data from June 2021 to May 2024 calculate a series indices (REIs). It explores spatiotemporal variations in these REIs alongside SWQ parameters, including temperature (WT), dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, total phosphorus (TP), nitrogen (TN), and turbidity. research also analyzes correlations between parameters for first time. The results show that events primarily occur July, with increases both intensity during period. Influenced by human activities, natural conditions, environmental policies, Hangzhou exhibit notable variability. Correlation analyses reveal significant positive relationships TP, TN, turbidity most areas REIs. However, WT, differ eastern western regions, resulting land use. These findings will provide theoretical basis developing models predict changes based REIs, contributing safeguarding quality.
