To address the challenges of twenty-first century, particularly negative effects climate change, mitigation measures such as Nature-based Solutions (NbS) are being employed. Vegetation, a part various NbS interventions, provides different ecosystem services that help combat current climate-related vulnerabilities. This research aims to illustrate connection between plants’ contribution adapting change and creation more sustainable spaces, focusing on usage bioretention systems (BRs) an example NbS. Some main aspects how vegetation is selected for BRs according qualities may contribute developing landscapes, along with providing key features adaptation, taxonomic data, specific plant species have been demonstrated be good candidates planting in BRs, also discussed. Therefore, importance this paper comprehensive systematization insightful suggestions future BR implementation.

Understanding particle size distribution (PSD) of total suspended sediments in urban runoff is essential for pollutant fate and designing effective stormwater treatment measures. However, the PSDs from different land uses under weather conditions have yet to be sufficiently studied. This research conducted a six-year water sampling program 15 study sites analyze PSD runoff. The results revealed that median decreased order: paved residential, commercial, gravel lane mixed use, industrial, roads. Fine particles less than 125 μm are dominant (over 75%) Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Roads largest percentage finer 32 (49%). Gravel residential areas sizes areas. were compared with previous literature provide more comprehensive information about uses. impact rainfall event types can vary depending on use types. A long antecedent dry period tends result accumulation fine surfaces. High intensity duration wash off coarse particles. spring exhibits finest particles, while fall has Snowmelt same during events because rainfall-runoff flows usually larger snowmelt flows.
