The advancement of the big data industry is playing a pivotal role in urban land management refinement. Recently, China initiated strategy, establishing national comprehensive pilot zones (NBDCPZs) across diverse regions. These initiatives present substantial opportunities for enhancing green use efficiency (ULGUE). Consequently, this study, we utilized super-efficiency slack-based measure (SBM) model with undesirable outputs to assess ULGUEs 281 prefecture-level cities from 2006 2021. Subsequently, leveraging NBDCPZ establishment as quasi-natural experiment, employed difference-in-differences (DID) method empirically explore impact policy on ULGUE first time. findings revealed following: (1) implementation significantly enhances ULGUE; (2) effects are mediated through mechanisms such fostering technological innovation, mitigating resource misallocation, and promoting industrial agglomeration; (3) heterogeneity analysis emphasizes increased effectiveness characterized by fewer natural resources, lower economic growth pressures, stable development stages, moderate digital infrastructure human capital levels; (4) further demonstrates significant positive spillover neighboring non-pilot cities, diminishing proximity between decreases. Overall, study contributes literature relationship economy utilization, offering valuable insights achieving sustainable development.

Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2013 to 2022, this paper constructs a measurement index system for symbiotic level digital innovation ecosystems three dimensions: symbiosis subjects, environment, and interaction. This applies entropy weight TOPSIS method, Dagum Gini coefficient decomposition, spatial convergence analysis empirically examine levels, regional disparities, China’s ecosystem. The results are as follows: (i) At national level, ecosystem has generally increased, creating distribution pattern that is “high east, flat middle, low west”. (ii) From perspective, major disparities between regions primary factors contributing overall difference (iii) perspective σ convergence, constantly expanding, uneven development intensifying. (iv) absolute β with lower levels have faster growth rate than higher symbiosis, there certain spillover effect. (v) conditional economic structure application can accelerate extent.

Digitization plays a vital role in fostering economic and social development. This study empirically investigates the impact of digitization on urban industrial structures, technological innovation, public service levels, social–ecological resilience. Various approaches, including two-tier stochastic, spatial econometric, panel threshold models, have been employed to analyze data from 287 cities 2008 2023. These are examined through quasi-natural experiment analyzing evolution resilience following China’s promotion national comprehensive pilot zone for big data. The findings as follows. (1) positive effects ecological substantially outweigh negative effects, with an overall increasing trend net effect, albeit significant regional differences. (2) Digitalization exhibits spillover enhancing local while inhibiting improvements neighboring cities. (3) Technological innovation levels positively affect resilience, whereas structure upgrading has indirect effect. Both demonstrate nonlinear under constraints intermediary mechanism. (4) In terms policy mechanisms, differences structure, capacity, must be considered. approach is essential promoting organic integration across regions, mitigating polarization diffusion
