The interaction between the forest canopy and precipitation is a fundamental process for understanding hydrological cycle in forests. Physical models have been applied to estimate water interception, their efficiency has tested based on metrics used assess models. For eucalyptus plantations Brazil, more studies are needed rainfall interception model. Thus, we calibrated Gash model using two complete years of observation plantation southeastern Brazil. model’s parametrization was conducted 17 trees individually different planting spacings (3 m × 2 m, 3 5 m). average values parameters were taken represent forest, each spacing performance according spacings. We NSE, KGE, Pbias statistical performance. individual events, showed an NSE 0.59 18.2%, respectively, meaning “satisfactory” eight “poor” nine trees. When averaged entire events considered, improved, being 0.643 8.2% Pbias, indicating “good” performance, which strengthened by KGE 0.746. Regarding spacings, best results found 3.0 2.0 (“a good performance”). other higher than 15%, leading inferior but with compatible practical implications our findings significant, as they can be enhance accuracy better forests thereby contributing effective management conservation.
