The lanthanide series elements are transition metals used as critical components of electronics, well rechargeable batteries, fertilizers, antimicrobials, contrast agents for medical imaging, and diesel fuel additives. With the surge in their utilization, being found more our environment. However, little is known about health effects associated with exposure. Epidemiological studies performed rodents exposed to lanthanum (La) suggest neurological damage, learning memory impairment, disruption neurotransmitter signaling, particularly serotonin dopamine pathways. Unfortunately, heavier lanthanides. As dysfunctions serotonergic dopaminergic signaling implicated multiple conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, depression, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress it utmost importance determine La other lanthanides on these systems. We therefore hypothesized that early-life exposure light [La (III) or cerium (Ce (III))] heavy [erbium (Er (III)) ytterbium (Yb Caenorhabditis elegans could cause dysregulation upon adulthood. Serotonergic was assessed by measuring pharyngeal pump rate, crawl-to-swim transition, egg-laying behaviors. Dopaminergic locomotor rate swim-to-crawl Treatment (III), Ce Er Yb caused deficits all assays, suggesting both disrupt Concomitant neurotransmission, four increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation decreased glutathione ATP levels. This suggests oxidative stress, which a modifier neurotransmission. Altogether, data may affect development pharmacological management related conditions.
