Policymakers and academics are interested in identifying mechanisms that promote environmental sustainability due to their relationship with climate change. This research evaluates the channels transmit effect of technology financial efficiency on quality. The is moderated by real production per capita, foreign direct investment, natural resource rents, institutional quality context Environmental Kuznets Curve. covers 1996–2021 period for a sample 88 economies classified into three groups according World Bank Atlas Method. We use second-generation cointegration techniques structural breaks quantile regression models. findings offer sufficient evidence conclude impact heterogeneous throughout distribution. Our suggest more associated maximizing than mitigating or restoring deterioration. A policy implication derived from our encourage generation carbon-free upper-middle-income countries achieve sustainability.

The purpose of this study is to examine the role structural transformation in energy sector accelerate decarbonization process world’s top five green leaders, Germany, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, and Poland. To test empirically, we collected annual data from a panel leaders 2000–2023. A key contribution our lies assessing multiple critical metrics, including CO2 emissions, carbon intensity, intensity electricity, production-based consumption-based capture holistic progress towards neutrality. We applied augmented mean group (AMG) model estimate long-term results. Dumitrescu–Hurlin used causal relationship among modeled variables. findings AMG reveal that renewable production consumption significantly reduce electricity. Conversely, fossil-fuel-derived exacerbates these metrics. However, impact sources varies by country terms their magnitude. outcomes indicate bidirectional causality exists between emissions intensity. unidirectional fossil fuel Our results detrimental impacts continued use conclude decarbonization. Based on results, suggest policy efforts should prioritize reforms emphasizing shift sources. Such are essential for achieving net-zero mitigating broader environmental degradation.
