Rare earth elements (REEs) are key resources of strategic importance, but pollution has increased due to uncontrolled mining. Although heavy metal hyperaccumulating plants environmentally friendly, they require strict control during post-treatment, or may cause secondary pollution. Therefore, their safe disposal plays a role in the ecological restoration REE mines. In this study, rare element (REE)-rich biochar was produced by pyrolyzing hyperaccumulator Dicranopteris pedata. This then applied Citrus grandis (L.) Osbeck. cv. Guanximiyou soil amendment experiment evaluate its effects on physicochemical properties and microbial indicators. Four treatments were established: CK (0% REE-rich biochar), BC1 (1% BC3 (3% BC5 (5% biochar). The treatment decreased bioavailability, thereby preventing also demonstrated highest efficacy improving total organic carbon (229.11%), nitrogen (53.92%), phosphorus (55.61%), potassium (55.50%), available (14.76%), (46.79%), (159.42%) contents compared CK. Abstract Urbanization and industrialization generate vast amounts of solid waste, posing significant threats to the biotic abiotic components environment. Solid wastes-derived carbonaceous catalysts (SW-CCs) represent an effective strategy for resource utilization, SW-CCs are gradually applied in environmental remediation energy fields. However, effects properties on their catalytic activity remain inadequately understood. A comprehensive review applications fields is yet be achieved. It necessary systematically latest research progress First all, this summarizes influences various factors how these affect activity. Subsequently, it explores recent existing issues (persulfate activation, photocatalysis, Fenton-like oxidation) sector (H 2 production, biodiesel CO conversion). Finally, future prospects recommendations provided facilitate further development application SW-CCs. This offers new insights into utilization waste efficient practical catalysts. Graphical
