Camellia hainanica is a newly identified species of Camellia, primarily distributed in Hainan Province, China, and an excellent edible oil tree. Under natural pollination conditions, the yield C. constrained by its low fruit set rate. In this study, we investigated flowering dynamics reproductive system using 'H4' cultivar. Floral characteristics were observed through field surveys three-dimensional observation methods. The results indicated that initiated stage mid-to-late October, reached peak early November, completed end December. diameter staminal group was 11.78 ± 1.34 mm. number pollen grains per anther 19,615 1,169.63, average anthers flower 121.55 13.34. total quantity ranged from 2,163,833.1 to 2,618,551.65 grains, with 2,373,649.49 139,794.83 grains. mixed-level orthogonal experiment revealed significant differences viability under different storage combination -80°C, sealed & dry, air drying proving be most effective method for storage. Pollen germination, tested vitro methods, showed highest germination rate 93% after 5 h. pollen-ovule ratio (P/O) 83,224.3 154,032.45, outcrossing index (OCI) 4. comprehensive analysis various treatments, application direct bagging post-emasculation without subsequent consistently resulted absence set. Conversely, geitonogamy treatment can lead set, but fruit-setting lower than xenogamy treatment, indicating self-compatibility. Based on numerical ratio, (OCI), infer breeding partially self-compatible, outcrossing, reliant pollinators.
