Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), referred to as inflammatory bowel (IBD), pose considerable challenges in treatment because they are chronic conditions that easily relapse. The occurrence of IBD continues rise developing countries. Nonetheless, the existing therapies for have limitations fail address needs patients thoroughly. There is an increasing need new, safe, highly effective alternative medications patients. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) employed drug development management due its wide-range biological activities, minimal toxicity, limited side effects. Extensive research has shown certain TCM exhibits significant therapeutic benefits treatments. Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) was used clinical settings IBD. Bioactive metabolites L. japonica, such luteolin, quercetin, cyanidin, chlorogenic acid (CGA), caffeic (CA), saponin, exhibit managing honeysuckle flower a potential candidate anti-inflammatory, immune system-regulating, antioxidant qualities. This paper reviews It discusses fundamental mechanism japonica bioactive prevention

Medicinal plants play an essential role in the health systems of many countries. Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease with pharmacological therapy associated adverse effects and relapses. Several experimental models are used to evaluate intestinal inflammation, including 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced ulcerative model. Thus, aim study was identify plant extracts phytoconstituents promising activities model TNBS-induced their respective mechanisms action and, thus, aid treatment UC. For this, literature review carried out using articles indexed Pubmed Science Direct databases, descriptors: “Extracts”, “Ulcerative colitis” “TNBS”. The inclusion criteria were Portuguese, English Spanish, published last 6 years (2019-2024) exclusion those that diverged from chosen theme outside time range. Twenty selected, indicating reduce symptoms severity lesions caused by TNBS, through inhibition expression pathways, enzymes, immune cells cytokines involved addition reduction oxidative stress. Therefore, it concluded effective safe options for management UC, acting as alternatives conventional therapies.
