The unique properties of supercritical fluid technology have found wide application in various industry sectors. Supercritical fluids allow for the obtainment new types products with special characteristics, or development and design technological processes that are cost-effective friendly to environment. One promising areas where fluids, especially carbon dioxide, can be used is oil industry. In this regard, present review article summarizes results theoretical experimental studies use gas extraction course refining, increasing recovery production heavy oil, hydraulic fracturing, as well processing disposal sludge asphaltenes. At end review, issue impact on corrosion equipment considered. It technologies very industry, but also disadvantages, such expansion incompatibility materials (for example, rubber).

Oily sludge is a hazardous material generated from the petroleum industry that has attracted increasing research interest. Although several review articles have dealt with specific subtopics focusing on treatment of oily based selected references, no attempt been made to demonstrate trend comprehensively and quantitatively. This study conducted systematic analyze evaluate all sludge-related journal retrieved Web Science database. The results show an increase in did not take place until recent years distribution researchers geographically out balance. Most focused for harmfulness reduction or valorization limited coverage formation, characterization, environmental impact assessment sludge. Pyrolytic attention years. So far, findings largely laboratory-scale experiments insufficient consideration cost-effectiveness proposed methods. many methods proposed, few alone could satisfactorily achieve cost-effective goals. To enable sustainable management global scale, efforts need be fund more projects, especially major oil-producing countries. Pilot-scale using readily available affordable materials should encouraged practical purposes. will allow sensible cost-benefit analysis method/procedure treatment. improve performance, combined are desirable. inform smart selection different types, it suggested develop universally accepted evaluation systems characterization risk
