The
introduction
of
the
first
list
priority
pathogenic
fungi
by
World
Health
Organization
stresses
need
to
research
and
develop
public
health
actions
mitigate
infections
caused
fungi.
One
those
involves
water
disinfection
systems,
which
comprise
classical
alternative
methods
that
have
been
developed
in
last
decades.
Thereby,
this
work
reviews
such
as
chlorination,
ozonation,
ultraviolet
(UV)
treatments
advanced
oxidation
processes
(AOPs)
photo-Fenton,
photocatalysis,
or
couplings
UV
with
peroxides.
matrices
aquatic
systems
(sewage,
groundwater,
drinking
water,
among
others)
were
considered.
A
bibliometric
analysis
is
performed
initially,
then
some
aspects
resistance
antifungals
are
presented,
efficiency
diverse
reduction
fungal
loading
also
revised.
Herein,
it
shown
role
disinfecting
agents
(e.g.,
chlorine,
hydroxyl
radical,
light)
their
effects
on
structures
direct
DNA
damage,
indirect
damage
due
action
radicals).
Moreover,
gaps,
treatment
antifungal-resistant
limited
information
about
combinations
AOPs,
related
polluted
fungi,
identified.
